Community Park and Fish Nature Trail
The Chamerau community park was created in 2006 near the Regen River and covers approximately 11,000 m². The fish nature trail in the community park opened in September 2010. Eight panels describe 21 native fish species. This gives the park a natural-history focus that goes beyond a general interest in nature: the species are named and described on the panels.
For nature enthusiasts and families, this can be a conversation starter: Which native fish species do you already know, and how do the featured species differ? The panels provide an informative introduction to the subject, even if you have not previously taken a closer interest in fish. The park and fish nature trail can therefore be considered as two connected aspects of your holiday planning: the size of the park and a clearly defined subject to explore.
Routes and Exercise
Since spring 2009, four Nordic walking routes of varying difficulty have been signposted in Chamerau. They range in length from 4.5 to 12.5 km. This gives you two factors to compare when planning: the route length and the indicated difficulty level. The range shows that the routes cover different distances. When choosing a route, you can first consider what distance fits your day’s plans, then take the difficulty level into account.
An asphalt curling lane adds another dimension to the recreational activities in Chamerau. It differs from the walking routes, whose details concern length and difficulty levels. A Detail from Church History
Chamerau’s parish church of St Peter and Paul houses an early Gothic granite baptismal font, probably created in the mid-13th century. The twelve apostles are depicted beneath trefoil arches. The font thus brings together a specific material, an approximate art-historical date and a clearly identified motif. Trefoil arches have a cloverleaf-like outline, with the apostles depicted beneath them. The parish church is located on the Regen River.
