The Bremental Jettingen-Scheppach Peat Experience Trail is a nature trail through the local peatland landscape of the Mindel Valley. Its focus is the landscape it passes through. Those interested in nature and the distinctive peatland landscape will find a different focus here than on a cycling tour or a day at the beach.
The Mindeltal Cycle Route, the Glött Cycle Route, the 7-Schwaben Tour and the Schwäbische Kartoffel Tour run through the municipality. You can use these four names to help plan your cycling activities. There is also a choice of hiking routes: the trails in the Augsburg Western Forests Landscape Conservation Area are well signposted. They include “Around Allerheiligen” and the route “to Violau”. Those who enjoy walking can consider these named hiking routes separately from the cycle routes and nature trail as their own reasons for an outing.
Bathing spot, fruit trees and a natural monument
At Heiligmannsee, a sunbathing lawn and a shallow bathing shore invite you to spend time by the water. The shore is also suitable for children. Alongside the trails and peatland landscape, this offers a different way to enjoy the outdoors: time at the lake instead of a walk or a cycling tour.
The fruit-tree trail in the village of Scheppach showcases a variety of native fruit trees. It is on Allerheiligenstraße, west of the car park below the Allerheiligen pilgrimage church. Its focus is the diversity of fruit trees. Another local highlight is the Hebsack oak near Jettingen-Scheppach: a natural monument in the Scheppacher Forest, it stands above the Allerheiligen pilgrimage church and is around 375 years old.
Church art and golf
Scheppach is home to the parish church of the Assumption of Mary, built in the 18th century. The building is Baroque, while the interior is Rococo. These two styles offer different points of reference for the church’s architecture and design. The parish church in Jettingen also contains epitaphs of the Knights of Stain. Those interested in church art can explore these two sites as cultural highlights of the municipality.
