Church history and the landscape along the Inn

The Church of the Assumption of Mary in Perach was renovated in the 15th century. Romanesque remains of an earlier church were incorporated into the renovation—a piece of older architectural history that lives on in the later church. Further afield in the region, Dachlwand lies on the Inn, northwest of Marktl. The nature reserve includes parts of the municipalities of Marktl, Erlbach and Perach, covers about 206 hectares and was converted from a landscape conservation area into a nature reserve in 1986. Altötting’s Treasury houses the Golden Horse, made in the Parisian court workshops in 1404.

At the Brother Conrad Museum in Altötting, visitors can see the Old Gate and Brother Conrad’s death cell. Anyone looking for nature and outdoor activities will find a nature trail with ten interactive stations along the stream in the Altöttinger Gries. The circular route there is about 1.4 kilometres long. Another landmark in the wider destination is Burghausen Castle, described as being 1,051 metres long and having six courtyards.
