There are several ways to discover Stimpfach: on marked and longer hiking trails, by bike or at the Reiglersbach Reservoir. The Jagst Valley forms the backdrop to several of the routes described, while the reservoir offers a place to swim. When choosing your holiday apartment, consider whether you want to focus on getting active on a route, taking in the scenery or spending time by the water.

Hiking Trails and Routes in Stimpfach

The signposted Hochwart Trail is 8 km long and leads over the heights around Stimpfach, with views extending from there into the Jagst Valley. A 15 km hike passes through the Reiglersbach Valley protected landscape area. The two routes offer different distances and landscapes: the Hochwart Trail focuses on the heights and views into the valley, while the longer hike leads through the protected Reiglersbach Valley.

Cyclists also have a specific route to follow: the “The 3 Valleys” cycle path in the municipality is about 32 km long. Its variant runs mostly along gravel paths and occasionally on asphalt. Appropriate equipment, skills and experience are required. As route details and trail conditions can change, check the latest information before setting out.

Other long-distance routes place the local trails in a broader context, though they may have a different character. The European long-distance path E8 passes through the eastern part of the municipality. The 193 km Kocher-Jagst Trail runs directly through Stimpfach, with the Jagst Valley providing the backdrop to the trail. The options therefore range from an 8 km trail and a 15 km hike to a longer cycling route and a long-distance path. The distances give you an idea of the route’s length, but do not replace information about walking or cycling times.

Water and Nature-Based Recreation

There is a place to swim at the Reiglersbach Reservoir, which covers 6 ha. If you are planning a day of swimming, check the current conditions on site. The campsite at the reservoir is subject to separate rules: the municipal regulations were adopted in 2025 and have been in effect since 1 May 2025. Under these rules, the campsite and its facilities may be used only for recreation and nature-based leisure activities.

Stimpfach therefore offers several distinct focal points: trails across the heights and through a protected landscape area, a cycling route with varying surfaces, and the opportunity to swim at the reservoir. When planning, it helps to decide first which activity you want to pursue, then focus on the appropriate route length or a stay by the water. The information about the Hochwart Trail, the Reiglersbach Valley and the 3 Valleys route variant describes distinct destinations and conditions.

Culture in the Wider Destination of Schwäbisch Hall

The wider destination of Schwäbisch Hall adds a distinct cultural focus to its landscapes and trails. The historic old town combines virtually unchanged medieval lanes with a partially preserved city wall, numerous towers, covered wooden bridges, stairways and Stäffele (stepped lanes), as well as a historic market square. The Hällisch-Fränkisches Museum is housed in seven historic buildings. The collegiate church of St. Nicholas at Großcomburg Monastery contains a Romanesque wheel chandelier.

Other places also add to Schwäbisch Hall’s cultural offerings: the Hohenloher Open-Air Museum in Schwäbisch Hall-Wackershofen comprises more than 75 historic buildings. The Kunsthalle Würth opened in 2001. These destinations offer a different focus from the trails and water in Stimpfach. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether the hiking and cycling opportunities described here, along with the Reiglersbach Reservoir, suit your travel plans, or whether culture in the wider destination of Schwäbisch Hall should take centre stage.
