Discover Gäufelden
Accommodation in Gäufelden
A work of art that has grown over decades, places of remembrance and circular trails of varying lengths give Gäufelden a distinctive character. When planning your trip, these themes are easy to distinguish: art and remembrance sit alongside more active ways to explore the area.

Art and Remembrance in Nebringen and Tailfingen
The Ackermann Sculpture Garden in Gäufelden-Nebringen features large steel structures, several studios and a decommissioned railway carriage. A complete work of art has been taking shape in Lutz Ackermann’s sculpture park for decades. The interplay of these diverse elements is particularly striking: large-scale steel forms, studios and the former railway carriage define the park’s artistic character. Those interested in sculpture will find a clear focus here.
The memorial to the Hailfingen-Tailfingen concentration camp subcamp offers a different perspective. Its documentation room is located in the Gäufelden-Tailfingen town hall, in the centre of the village. The exhibition and memorial room was inaugurated on 6 June 2010. As a multimedia exhibition space, it is primarily intended for school classes with students aged 14 and over. The memorial to the concentration camp subcamp is at the western end of the runway of the former airfield and is accessible year-round. The memorial sites therefore differ in form and location: a multimedia room in the town hall and a year-round memorial at the former airfield.
Circular Trails and Track Cycling
Three local sections of the Gäufelden Small Monuments Trail offer circular walks of varying lengths. In Nebringen, the route is about 6 kilometres long and starts at Nebringen station. The Öschelbronn section is about 3.5 kilometres long and starts at the car park by the cemetery. In Tailfingen, the route is about 5 kilometres long and starts at the car park behind the Bürgerhalle community hall. By approximate length, the Nebringen loop is the longest of the three and the Öschelbronn loop the shortest, with Tailfingen in between. This lets you compare route lengths and starting points. Check current local conditions before setting out.
The cycling stadium in Gäufelden-Öschelbronn offers another activity: the RSV Öschelbronn holds open track training sessions for everyone. Public training follows a recurring schedule, but does not take place during school holidays. Check the current schedule with the club before planning your visit around it. In addition to the open club training sessions, groups can arrange an individual appointment to use the velodrome. For this too, check current availability and make arrangements directly with the club.
More Highlights in the Wider Böblingen Destination
The wider Böblingen destination offers additional, distinct nature and cultural attractions. The Böblingen Forest Adventure Trail is 4.5 kilometres long and has 14 stations in the Böblingen municipal forest. The Heckengäu Adventure Trail is a 23-kilometre hiking route around Aidlingen and includes a soil education trail, a sensory area and a low-rope course. The routes therefore differ both in length and in their stated highlights.
Böblingen also offers a distinctive attraction for those interested in cultural history: the German Peasants’ War Museum in Böblingen documents the German Peasants’ War of 1525. Visitors can use a working, scale replica of an early printing press to print title pages from Reformation and Peasants’ War pamphlets. This makes it possible to distinguish Gäufelden’s local art and culture of remembrance from other nature and history themes in the wider Böblingen destination.
When looking for a holiday apartment in Gäufelden, these differences can help you choose the focus of your stay: art and remembrance, circular trails by length and starting point, or track cycling training with its specific dates. If training or a group appointment is important to your plans, take the club’s current information into account when making your decision.
