Mainxe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mainxe is located in Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of Cognac. The village’s religious heritage includes the parish church of Saint-Maurice, which was restored in 1868 on the remains of a 12th-century church. To the south, Mainxe is bordered by the Chemin Boisné, an ancient Roman road from Saintes to Périgueux. The Chemin Boisné was also a stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James.

Choosing Mainxe as a holiday destination goes hand in hand with the intention of renting a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

The history of Cognac also shapes the places to visit in the surrounding area. Cognac François Peyrot offers tours of the distillery, explaining how Cognac is produced and aged. A visit to Cognac François Peyrot is followed by a complimentary tasting of Cognac, Pineau and liqueurs. There is also a museum about viticulture and distillation.

A visit to the Braastad Cognac house includes the authentic distillery, an ageing and blending cellar, and a cabinet of curiosities. The discovery tour at Braastad Cognac includes a tasting of the three Cognac categories described as iconic: VS, VSOP and XO.

Gastronomy and Local Life

A farmers’ market takes place every Friday afternoon at Domaine du Tambourinour. Only producers, farmers and livestock breeders take part in this market.
