Kobæk Strand: bathing jetty, nature and waterside trails

If you would like to combine the beach, nature and varied trails during your holiday, Kobæk Strand offers distinctive points of interest for this. A 90-metre-long bathing jetty extends into the water in front of the Kobæk Strand Conference Centre. The beach also has a bathing platform for toddlers. The shallow water is suitable for swimming, playing and light water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.

Beach days from different perspectives

Kobæk Strand can be experienced from more than just the water. Trails lead from the beach through Kobæk Skov and onwards along the outer fjord. In good weather, you can see the Great Belt Bridge as well as the islands of Agersø and Omø from Kobæk Strand. A viewpoint with tables and benches also provides a view across Kobæk Strand, the Great Belt Coast and the shallow beach meadows.

Kobæk Skov and Kobæk Sø

Kobæk Skov was established in 2006 on an area of 95 hectares, covering almost 1 km², between Skælskør and Kobæk Strand. North of the road to Kobæk Strand lies Kobæk Sø, a man-made freshwater wetland with numerous waterfowl. A wheelchair-accessible birdwatching tower stands at the southern edge of the lake. Alongside the beach, the area therefore offers another specific opportunity to focus your stay on observing nature.

The beach meadows near Kobæk Skov form part of Natura 2000 site no. 162, “Skælskør Fjord og havet og kysten mellem Agersø og Glænø”. This designation refers to the special landscape connection between the beach, shallow meadows and bodies of water.

Trails with natural and cultural history

The Kobæk hiking trail is not marked. If you want to follow it, you will need a map, GPS or a smartphone. Another trail connection is provided by Lodshusstien, which passes the protected Møllebakken viewpoint hill, from where, in clear weather, you can look across Agersøsund and the Great Belt. A trail to Kobæk Strand also branches off from Lodshusstien.

Lodshusstien also has a historical dimension. Residents of Agersø and Omø used it as a church path until their own churches were built in the 16th century. A stay in Kobæk Strand can thus be combined not only with beach activities and birdwatching, but also with the landscape history of the trails.
