Landscape around Ordrup Næs

Ordrup lies on a plain shaped by meltwater at the foot of terminal moraines. Ordrup Næs was formed around 18,000 to 17,000 years ago on the eastern flank of a glacier during the Bælthav ice advance. This gives the coast a geological background that can be easily combined with a walk or a bike ride.

The surrounding area also offers distinctive landmarks. In Kårup Skov, Orehøje rises 90 metres above sea level. There are also three well-preserved Bronze Age burial mounds near Orehøje. Roe deer, foxes, badgers and pine martens can be found in Kårup Skov. Beach, trails and fishing

Ordrup Beach is located on Sejerø Bay by Ordrup Næs and the village of Ordrup. The child- and wheelchair-friendly sandy beach is approximately 330 metres long; the sandy area is about 15 metres wide. There are also fishing spots around Ordrup Næs.

Suggestions for hiking and cycling tours are available for Ordrup Næs. Sea trout fishing at the Næs is possible in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Night fishing is also mentioned for the summer. In addition, the coast offers good opportunities to find some shelter from easterly, southerly and north-northeasterly winds. Depending on your preferred daily rhythm, you can therefore choose between activity, time at the beach and spending time by the water.

Mills, village pond and artists’ history

Ordrup has preserved notable traces of its past beyond the coast as well. A former watermill still stands in the village. There is also a later Dutch windmill here, known as Ordrup Mill. Both mills are specific local features that add a historical focus to a walk through Ordrup.

In 1930, a closely connected artists’ colony emerged in the area around Ordrup and Kårup, later becoming known as the Odsherred painters. The village pond in Ordrup remains a place of social life in the village.
