Lønne can be explored through several themes: cycling with views, a marked walking route and a church history bearing traces of different eras. When planning your holiday, consider whether nature, activity or culture should shape your stay. You can also use these distinctions to guide your search for a holiday apartment in Lønne.

A landscape with two natural features

The flat area of “Kirkeflod” lies in the northeastern part of Nyminde Syd. It is protected by the Lønne Kirkeflod conservation order (01106.01), established in 1979. In the southern part of Nyminde, Kirkeflod is a site for lobelia. The two natural features with the same name are therefore in different areas: one in Nyminde Syd, the other in the southern part of Nyminde. This distinction helps you appreciate the protected flat landscape and the lobelia site as separate features. If you are considering Lønne for its landscape, both offer specific points of interest in the area’s natural environment.

Cycling route with viewpoints

The 21.6 km “Lønne, Kløvbakke og Blåbjerg” cycling route offers several named landmarks to help you plan your ride. At Kløvbakke, the route includes a rest area with views of Fidde Sø and Filsø. Another notable point is Blåbjerg in Blåbjerg Plantage. At 64 metres, it is the highest point in the area, and there are views from the summit. The same cycling route therefore features two different viewpoints: the view of Fidde Sø and Filsø from the rest area, and the view from the summit of Blåbjerg. If you are looking for a cycling route with specific named viewpoints, these two places can help you plan.

On foot to Hattebjerget

Another option is the marked yellow route in Nyminde Plantage. It is 6.4 km long and leads to the Hattebjerget viewpoint. It also crosses the cycle path between Nymindegab and Lønne. The crossing is a useful landmark if you want to distinguish between the two routes: the yellow route leads to the viewpoint, while the cycle path it crosses runs between the two named places. This gives you a clear comparison when choosing: 6.4 km on foot, with Hattebjerget as your destination, or 21.6 km on the cycle path, with viewpoints at Kløvbakke and Blåbjerg. The activities, distances and destinations differ; decide which type of outing best suits your holiday.

Lønne Church and its history

Lønne Church was designed by J. Magdahl Nielsen and is a cruciform, whitewashed brick church. It was inaugurated in 1904, after the old Lønne Church was demolished the previous year. A mound in the old churchyard marks the site of the former church. The churchyard at Lønne Church also contains seven cast-iron crosses from the second half of the 19th century. The church’s history therefore encompasses traces from different periods: the building inaugurated in 1904, the marked site of its predecessor and the older crosses. The cruciform plan describes the shape of the church, while “whitewashed” refers to the treatment of the brick surface. The architecture, dates and churchyard thus offer different points of reference for understanding the history of the place.
