In 1795, a new mill was built at the bridge in Åsted to replace the decommissioned Nissum watermill. The former Nissum mill site is still preserved today in the garden behind the mill house at Østergårdsvej 3.

In the area around Nissum, Østergård was built between 1516 and 1550 in the Late Gothic style. In addition, Glob Krabbe apparently had Nissum demolished and built Østergård 2 km farther to the southeast instead.
