Brædstrup between forest trails, lake and history
Accommodation in Brædstrup
Brædstrup lies in the hilly Søhøjlandet region. Trip ideas range from marked trails and a short exercise route to Ring Sø and cultural history discoveries. You can focus your stay on outdoor activities, water or history, and alternate between these themes. The specific route lengths provide a practical guide for planning your days.
Walking routes of various lengths
The larger, town-adjacent forest of Ring Skov borders Brædstrup and offers marked walking routes. Five of them are between 2 and 3.8 kilometres long. Visitors should stay on the paths in Ring Skov. The range gives you several marked distances to choose from when planning an outing in the forest.
The signposted Hjertestien is 5.7 kilometres long and passes through Brædstrup and the nearby natural areas. This makes it longer than the five routes in Ring Skov, which range from 2 to 3.8 kilometres. The routes also differ in their described courses: Hjertestien passes through the town and nearby natural areas, while the marked Ring Skov routes are in the forest.
The “Ro i naturen” route offers something different: Over 1.2 kilometres, it has eight stations with mindfulness and yoga exercises. It starts in a park by a lake. Compared with the longer walking routes, it is a short route whose distinctive feature is its exercise stations.
Ring Sø and routes through the parks
Ring Sø, a bathing lake with a beach and bathing jetty, lies on the edge of Brædstrup. An approximately 3-kilometre footpath goes all the way around the lake. Compared with the 5.7-kilometre Hjertestien, this loop is shorter. There is also an important qualification: an official warning about blue-green algae advises against swimming.
The popular Naturstien Horsens-Silkeborg cycling and walking route runs along Folkeparken and the activity park in Brædstrup. Alongside the routes in the forest and by the lake, this offers cycling and walking paths through the parks as another option.
Cultural history and travel planning
Tinghuset dates from 1919 and retains its original furnishings. Brædstrup Kirke was built in 1941. Klovenhøj is a burial mound that probably dates from the Bronze Age (1700–500 BC); steps lead to its summit. The historical periods thus range from the 20th century to a prehistoric dating that is explicitly described as probable for Klovenhøj.
The troll Jensnej is also part of the area’s cultural attractions: it came to Brædstrup in 2023 and was created by artist Thomas Dambo.
When looking for a holiday home in Brædstrup, you can first decide what you want to focus on during your stay. For days of walking, there are trails of different lengths and character to choose from; the lake offers a beach and bathing jetty, but the official blue-green algae warning advises against swimming. Those interested in culture can plan their stay around architectural history and the area’s varied historical connections.
