Halsnæs Municipality can be explored via paths along the water and protected open spaces. Fjordstien is a walking and cycling route that runs near the coast along Roskilde Fjord and Isefjord. Paths and landscapes
The Halsnæs Health Corridor is an approximately 10-kilometre route that starts and ends at Hundested Station. Along the corridor, there are information boards or audio guides, as well as suggestions for smaller nature activities. Hvide Klint is a nature-rich, protected open space close to the town for children and adults of all ages. At Hvide Klint, there is a 108-metre adventure bridge and an underwater path along the coast.
Halsninoen is a 52.7-kilometre hiking trail through the whole of Halsnæs, from Hundested via Arrenakke and Arrenæs to the Strø Bjerge hills. Many regional railway stations and bus stops are located near Halsninoen. Kongemagt og Vandets Kraft offers shorter route options: the route can be walked in three variants of 5, 7 and 11 kilometres and leads, among other places, past the ruins of Dronningholm Castle and the beaver shelter at Dronningholm Mose. Ullerup Skov also has a labyrinth and a combined shelter and fire hut with a barbecue area and a bridge over a small lake.
Culture and history
Hundested Skanse is a cultural monument and an attraction on the coastal slope north of the harbour. At Hundested Harbour, there are open workshops and activities for families in a maritime harbour atmosphere. Backhaus Brown runs a lively glass workshop there, where unique glass art is created. Hundested is also home to Knud Rasmussen's House, a museum about the life and achievements of polar explorer Knud Rasmussen. The house is situated on a natural site near Spodsbjerg Fyr and offers views of the Kattegat.
Kikhavn is the oldest fishing harbour village on Halsnæs. With its many large thatched farms and houses, the village preserves a historic village landscape that tells the story of the connection between agriculture and fishing. Cars are not permitted in Kikhavn's narrow, winding streets; visitors are asked to leave their cars in the car park outside the village and explore Kikhavn on foot.
Frederiksværk has been designated a national industrial monument. Gjethuset in Frederiksværk is a converted 18th-century cannon foundry building and hosts theatre performances, concerts and international art exhibitions. Arsenalet in Frederiksværk is a museum presenting more than 250 years of industrial development. At the same time, Arsenalet serves as an information centre for Kongernes Nordsjælland National Park and its nature experiences. The Krudtværksmuseet in Frederiksværk displays historic powder mills along the canal.
Water and other experiences
Visitors can take a scenic trip on Lake Arresø aboard the excursion boat M/S Frederikke, combining nature experiences with fascinating stories. Lynæs Surfcenter offers equipment rental and lessons in kitesurfing, windsurfing, SUP and kayaking. At Tothaven, visitors can meet dairy goats, ponies, young animals and other farm animals.
