Discover Aarup: Hiking Trails, Art and Music
Aarup combines nature experiences, culture and music to create a diverse destination. At its heart are the Aarup-Stierne: five different hiking trails that all start in Aarup. This makes it possible to plan a trip in which active days and cultural impressions sit side by side, without having to commit to just one type of experience. For families with different interests, this provides helpful guidance, as you can arrange your excursions according to your preferred pace.
Hiking around Aarup
One specific option is the blue Skydebjerg Mose route. It is approximately 8 kilometres long and starts at Aarup Skole. Along the Aarup-Stierne, there are toilets at Aarup Station and Møllegårdsskoven. You can take these two named access points into account when making your personal preparations.
The surrounding landscape also has its own distinctive features. Frøbjerg Bavnehøj is located nearby. At 131 metres above sea level, it is the highest point on Funen; the area around Frøbjerg Bavnehøj is protected. Another scenic impression can be found in Erholm Park, a historic park designed in the English romantic landscape style. Rolling terrain, winding paths, idyllic lakes and rare trees from Denmark and abroad shape its character. Erholm Gods has a history dating back to the 16th century.
Art and music as travel experiences
At Kulturhuset Industrien, Kunstforeningen Galleriet presents ten different exhibitions each year, changing monthly. The works on display include paintings, ceramics, glass, sculptures, photographs and paper art, among others. Anyone who wants to shape their trip not only around the landscape but also around changing art exhibitions will find a range of options here. In addition, Kunstforeningen Galleriet holds a vernissage on the first Thursday of every month from 5 to 6 p.m. This gives you the opportunity to meet the current artist.
Kulturhuset Industrien is also the venue for Musik På Industrien, a volunteer-run association that organises concerts. The programme includes rock, folk, jazz, blues and pop. Musik Midt i Aarup adds to the cultural profile with a free one-day festival held every year. Depending on your travel dates and personal interests, you can choose between hiking trails, exhibitions, concerts and a festival atmosphere.
Planning your trip and choosing suitable accommodation
When choosing a holiday apartment in Aarup, you can consider which focus should shape your days. If you plan to explore the Aarup-Stierne and the Skydebjerg Mose route, hiking will take centre stage. If you are more interested in art and music, the exhibitions, vernissages and concerts at Kulturhuset Industrien provide clear cultural options. Aarup Bibliotek organises events and exhibitions for children and adults, making it another possible activity for a trip involving several generations. A little outside Aarup, you can create your own candles at Corra Design in Orte. This allows you to add a creative activity to your trip planning.
