A nearly square bay with a long sandy beach, ancient traces along the coast and the Srednja Dalmacija route marked with Camino signs shape the Municipality of Marina. There are also olive groves, historic churches and water lilies at the Bliznice ponds. When planning your trip, it is worth first considering whether you are mainly looking for time by the water, a route to explore on foot, or insights into history and local food culture. These interests offer different starting points when choosing a holiday apartment in the municipality.

Coast, Bays and a Springtime Highlight

Stari Trogir Bay stands out for its almost square shape and long sandy beach. Parts of ancient baths, a cistern, a frigidarium and mosaic remains are also visible along its coast. This means you can experience the beach and archaeological traces as different aspects of a stay by the sea, without presenting them as a single attraction.

The hidden bays of Voluja and Ljubljeva are part of Vinišće. The Vela and Mala Petlara quarries are located in Voluja Bay; the ancient Jamurine quarry is also in Vinišće. At the Bliznice ponds, there is a rest area with picnic benches. The floating water lilies are particularly striking there in spring. Alongside coastal attractions, this gives you a nature destination and a seasonal highlight to consider when planning your trip.

Routes for Active Exploration

The Srednja Dalmacija Camino route is divided into seven daily stages. It is marked with Camino signs; using the route’s GPS file for navigation is also recommended. The Municipality of Marina is the endpoint of this route and, at the same time, the first stop on the Camino Šibenik route. If you would like to incorporate the Camino into your trip, you can take the municipality’s role into account when planning. The information about the stages and navigation provides a practical framework without specifying a walking time or route length.

Another way to get active is the “Staza zdravlja” (Health Trail). It begins at an outdoor fitness park and runs along part of the peninsula that separates Marina from Vinišće. Which of these ideas better suits your stay depends on whether you would like to include a multi-day route or a single trail in your plans.

Churches, History and Local Produce

The Church of St Luke stands in Poljica. It dates from the 13th or 14th century and still has Gothic features. The Church of St Marina was built at the beginning of the 16th century at the far end of Marina Bay, outside the former fortified Bosiljina. Both buildings offer different points of historical interest: the church in Poljica is notable for its age and Gothic features, while the Church of St Marina is notable for its location in relation to the former fortifications and the bay.

Olives also shape the region’s identity: Marina has just over one million olive trees, and the region is known for high-quality olive oils. The tourist offer also includes rural farmsteads where locally grown and processed foods are available. In Marina, visitors can go fishing and then sample dishes made with their catch. Those interested in regional food will find other specific topics to consider when planning their itinerary, in addition to olive oil.

Getting Here and Places Within the Municipality

The Municipality of Marina is on the D8 Adriatic Coastal Road, roughly halfway between Split and Šibenik and ten kilometres from Trogir. Marina Agana is on the north shore of Marina Bay, in the centre of the settlement. These geographical reference points help with orientation, while the coastal settlements and routes appeal to different interests. Places within the municipality include Marina, Sevid, Vinišće, Poljica, Vrsine, Blizna Donja, Gustirna and Mitlo.
