Festivals and Cuisine

The traditional “Gardeners' Soup Day” takes place at the beginning of September in the locality of Chernichkite in Zlataritsa. The event combines the preparation of soup outdoors with music, songs, dances and customs. In November, Zlataritsa hosts the “Day of Folk Foods – Pickles and Rakia”, which includes competitions for homemade pickles and homemade rakia.

Gardeners' soup is a characteristic dish of Zlataritsa; historically, it was associated with welcoming and saying farewell to travelling gardeners. The local gardeners' soup is prepared with garden vegetables such as carrots, courgettes, potatoes, peppers and onions.

The municipality also includes Hotal Bunar Winery in Gorsko Novo Selo, where on-site wine tastings are offered.
