Shkorpilovtsi: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Those looking to rent a holiday apartment in Shkorpilovtsi can continue their accommodation search afterward. An archaeological site is located at the southern end of the “Kamchiyski Sands” interpretive route in the Shkorpilovtsi resort complex.
Coast and Nature
The “Kamchiyski Sands” protected area covers 4,537.794 decares. It protects Bulgaria’s largest dune complex and includes all types of dune habitats. The “Kamchiyski Sands” protected area also encompasses territory in Shkorpilovtsi. The dune habitats transition into riparian alluvial forests in floodplains and oak forests.
Culture and History
The archaeological site includes a partially visible Early Bulgarian earthen rampart measuring 2,125 metres in length. It runs along both banks of the Fundakliyska River at its mouth into the sea. The rampart is part of a larger archaeological complex in the Shkorpilovtsi area.
Route and Access
The “Kamchiyski Sands” interpretive route is a walking route with a northern and a southern branch along the seacoast and sand dunes. It begins at the turnoff from the Novo Oryahovo–Shkorpilovtsi road to the coast, near the former Izgrev campsite. The route’s parking area can be reached by car or bicycle. Driving motor vehicles outside existing roads is generally prohibited in the “Kamchiyski Sands” protected area.
