Culture
The “Heroes of Slivnitsa” granite monument stands in the center of Slivnitsa. It was erected in 1935 and is 20 meters high.
The “First Soldier Monument” in Aldomirovtsi is described as Bulgaria’s first soldiers’ monument. It is a granite monument above the mass grave of the 7th Preslavsky Infantry Regiment from the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885. The monument was unveiled on November 7, 1891, and is listed as number 62a among Bulgaria’s 100 National Tourist Sites.
The St. George Chapel was built by Father Todor and his son, Father Georgi. The Slivnitsa ossuary monument commemorates 196 military personnel who died of their wounds away from the battlefield during the wars of 1912–1913 and 1915–1918. Since the cemetery enclosure was relocated in April 1957, it has been open to residents and visitors.
The memorial at the New Cemetery above Slivnitsa commemorates Bulgarian and Serbian soldiers killed in the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885. It is a six-meter-high cross monument that was opened and consecrated on June 1, 2010.
Nature
Aldomirovsko Swamp is located in the territory of Aldomirovtsi within the municipality of Slivnitsa. It is a protected area that is important for regional biodiversity and is home to numerous resident or breeding wetland bird species.
History
The rock formations Tri Ushi, Puklina, and Meka Prev northwest of Slivnitsa are associated with battles of the Serbo-Bulgarian War in November 1885. The area around Tri Ushi, Puklina, and Meka Prev contains settlement remains from several historical periods, as well as a cave near Peklyuchki Kamik.
Trails
The town trail in Slivnitsa passes memorials to Captain Vasil Danadzhiev and Second Lieutenant Ivan Bobev, who were killed as officers in the Battle of Slivnitsa in 1885. The Warrior Memory educational eco-trail includes a memorial plaque and a wooden observation tower overlooking nearby settlements and the hills where fighting took place in 1885.
