Culture
At the Nadezhda 1908 Community Centre, an ethnographic collection presents local everyday culture through traditional clothing, agricultural tools, woven textiles, household utensils, and photographs of revived customs and community groups.
The municipality included the Novo Selo Chitalishte among the venues for summer creative and educational activities for children. A 2014 project plan for Novo Selo also included activities related to Lazaruvane and Koleduvane, which were connected with participatory Bulgarian folk traditions.
Sport and Leisure
Novo Selo has a restored tennis court with a designated spectator area. As part of the sports project, new fitness equipment was added alongside the restored tennis court. The sports complex supports several outdoor and indoor sports; lighting enables its courts to be used in the evening.
Customs and Traditions
The Kumichene ritual was practised in the locality of New Fountain in Novo Selo, during which wreaths were placed on flowing water.
Novo Selo celebrated 24 May and the settlement’s local festival with a traditional concert programme for residents and visitors. A programme dedicated to spring customs included a ritual bread workshop and the decoration of a traditional St George’s Day swing.
A celebration of spring customs included collecting willow branches and making traditional flower wreaths together with local residents, visitors and partners. At this celebration, visitors could also sample lamb soup provided by local entrepreneurs and agricultural producers.
Novo Selo re-enacted St George’s Day customs, including the traditional “Games on Song”, with the participation of local residents and visitors.
Church
The Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Novo Selo was described as 140 years old in an anniversary notice. A 2023 announcement invited residents and visitors to the Ilinden patronal service on 20 July.
