History and Culture
In Mechka, a monument dating from 1900 commemorates Russian soldiers who fell in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. It is located 1.5 km from the settlement on the road towards Stalpishte.
The remains of the Roman border fort of Ursus, later known as Trimamium, are located west of Stalpishte.
In the wider regional surroundings of Mechka are the Cherven Fortress and the Muzeul Judeţean Teohari Antonesscu. The surrounding area also contains the Biserica Ortodoxă Sfântul Pantelimon and the Biserica Cetăţuia.
