The focal point of Mogilino’s local cultural life is the Chitalishte “Selsko sabuzhdane 1899” – the settlement’s only educational and cultural center. It organizes celebrations according to the local calendar, as well as joint initiatives for children and adults to restore Mogilino’s traditions and customs. Its library’s 2024 collection records 4,413 books; visits to both the lending room and the reading room are also recorded.

Landscape

Mogilino is located in the southeastern part of Bulgaria’s hilly Danubian Plain. The settlement lies on a high hill at an elevation of 385 meters; its terrain consists of heavily dissected semi-mountainous land. Regular daily transport connections link Mogilino with Ruse.

History and Festivals

The Orthodox Church of St. Dimitar in Mogilino was built by Priest Todor Marinov, who is buried in its churchyard. During its patron saint’s feast, a water blessing ceremony was held at the church; it also celebrated its 125th anniversary with a Divine Liturgy.

The 2024 cultural program included an Easter horo on the village square, an Enyovden gathering at sunrise in a meadow outside the settlement, and the local festival “Sbra se nashe selo.”

In the wider regional area around Ruse lies the medieval city of Cherven, a National Archaeological Reserve with a fortress, defensive walls, churches, and other excavated structures.
