The Belen Bridge over the Yantra River was built between 1865 and 1867 on the orders of Midhat Pasha. It is 276 metres long and has 13 pillars with 14 semicircular arches.
Culture
The Historical Museum of Byala presents events connected with the Russo-Turkish War of 1877โ1878. It is housed in the former central imperial headquarters, which was used in Byala during the war of 1877โ1878. The grounds of the Historical Museum feature original artillery pieces as well as a section of the pontoon bridge used by Russian troops near Svishtov.
The Church of St George was designed between 1910 and 1915 as a temple-monument-mausoleum and consecrated in 1924. Its iconostasis was carved by Stefan Stoyanov, while the murals were painted by Professor Apostol Hristov. Near the Belen Bridge, there is also a bust monument to Panayot Volov at the site associated with his death.
The Art Center Byala includes a wax figure gallery and an ethnographic exhibition of Bulgarian folk costumes from all over Bulgaria.
