Natural landmarks and landforms

There are 37 protected natural sites in the municipality of Cherven Bryag. A striking example is Tectonic Ridge Kaleto in the area of Reselets: this protected natural landmark covers 57.4 hectares. The protected Reseleshki Dolls are also near Reselets. The Shtarka protected area preserves a site where the endangered red peony, Paeonia peregrina Mill., grows.

Other natural features are found in different places across the municipality. Sedlarka is a natural rock bridge in the Ezeroto locality in the area of Rakita. Near Breste are the geomorphological formations Kupenite and Skoka Waterfall. Haidushka Cave, also called Temnata Dupka, is a natural attraction in the municipality. The municipal area lies within the Karlukovski Karst (BG0000332) and Karlukovo (BG00001014) Natura 2000 protected areas.

Hiking trails with different focuses

The Kaleto E-trail, also known as the nature trail, has three difficulty levels and is longer than 3.5 kilometres. The route description therefore provides practical guidance for planning your day; the three levels and stated length remain its key details. There is also a hiking trail near Sukhache, with rest areas and a sports ground. Near Telish, the Through History tourist trail leads to another regional attraction: the Kaleto fortress.

Water is another possible focus for day trips. Near Dobri Dol, by the Ruchene River, the Kaleto hiking trail reaches a pool with a designated beach and pedal boats. The artificial Barazha Lake on the Ruchene is suitable for fishing and excursions. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can use these different activities to help decide what to focus on during your trip, without combining nature, hiking and water experiences into a single excursion destination.

Fortresses, culture and regional traditions

The late antique and medieval Kaleto fortress is near Reselets. In contrast, the Kaleto fortress near Telish has Thracian, ancient and late antique construction and use phases. Visitors interested in historical sites will find two distinct examples with different historical connections.

At the Svetlina Chitalishte in Cherven Bryag, artists from Cherven Bryag, Bulgaria and abroad present numerous exhibitions in the foyer. A modern ballet group and a men's authentic folklore group also perform there. In Reselets, a folk custom connected with water is authentically reenacted by the Ruchene River for Jordan's Day on 6 January and Ivan's Day on 7 January.

Regional cuisine is also part of the area's local character: Reselets luchnik is made with Reselets water onion, egg and cheese. The Reselets Water Onion Day is one of the municipality's distinctive events in its cultural calendar. This allows you to give nature and culture different levels of importance when planning your trip, rather than associating the municipality with just one attraction.
