Tran: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Erma Gorge is located about 4 kilometres from Tran and was designated a natural monument and protected area in 1961.

Nature

The cliffs of the Erma Gorge are about 150 to 200 metres high. The Vrabcha Waterfall is about 5 metres high and plunges into a small pool. Below the cliffs near the waterfall, there is a picnic area with tables and benches.

Active Pursuits

More than ten alpine climbing routes have been established on the cliffs of the Erma Gorge. From the Erma Gorge, you can follow the Tran Eco Trail for about 3 kilometres to Bankya.

The Zabel–Ruy–Lomnitsa–Bankya–Tran–Zabel route is a 38-kilometre mountain biking loop. It runs mainly through the Ruy Mountains, passes the Erma Gorge and forms a small loop through the Ezdimirska Mountains.

Culture

The Tran School of Architecture is associated with master builders who shaped the appearance of cities in the Balkans during the National Revival period in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Saint Petka Rock Chapel in Tran is a prehistoric sanctuary carved into the rock that serves as a chapel. It has a viewing platform with panoramic views of Tran and the surrounding area.

Local Traditions

The Tran area is associated with local crafts connected with everyday life. At the Yogurt Museum in Studen Izvor, visitors can taste yoghurt prepared according to local traditions and recipes. The Businska Ceramics Museum Complex in Busintsi is described as one of Bulgaria’s oldest pottery centres.
