Culture

The Church of Holy Trinity in Izvor was built in 1863. A cell school was founded next to it in 1863. Inscriptions can be found on the west façade of the church.

Traditions

The Otec Paisiy-1927 Community Cultural Center in Izvor was founded on January 9, 1927, and includes the Izvorski Naniz women's folk dance group. Since 2009, it has co-organized the regional competition for the traditional Easter table, “Cherven, cherven Velikden.” The competition transforms the village square into a celebration of Easter tradition; participants come from the provinces of Pernik, Kyustendil, and Sofia. In the area around Radomir, Izvor was one of the villages associated with numerous boza producers.

Nature

Izvor is located near the E871 road between Sofia and Kyustendil. A hiking route begins in Izvor and leads via the Momin Kladenets Hut to Mount Colosh.

Geographical Setting

The Izvor Monastery of Saints Peter and Paul is located about one kilometer south of Izvor in the Kolosh Mountains. Liturgies there are held exclusively on major Christian holidays.
