Debnevo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Near the center of Debnevo lies Kaleto, a Late Antique and medieval fortress that defended the Troyan Pass. The earliest traces of human presence at Kaleto date back to the 5th millennium BC; during the Late Iron Age, Kaleto Hill was inhabited as a Thracian settlement. Fortification walls, residential and agricultural buildings, as well as production facilities, have been preserved.

Culture and History

The Stone Bridge of Debnevo dates from 1904 and was built by master builder Filip Raykov. The Church of St. Petka was built in 1892 by master builder Pavel Kolev from Tryavna. Inside are icons by Vasil Genkov from Tryavna, as well as wood carvings by the hieromonk Meletius. The church can be visited by prior arrangement with the village authorities.

Nature

Debnevo is situated on the Vidima River and offers opportunities for summer recreation and fishing. A walking path runs along the Vidima and is suitable for relaxing and picnicking. Various summer events take place in the riverside locality of Laka. Visitors can pitch a tent there and spend several peaceful days.

Events and Crafts

The Debnevo village festival takes place in the last week of October around St. Dimitar’s Day. Debnevo is also home to two operating pottery workshops. JAM ON THE RIVER is scheduled to take place in Debnevo from 29 July to 1 August 2026, bringing music and visual art to picturesque locations along the Vidima.
