Culture and History
Gluhite Kamani rises above Malki Voden in the Eastern Rhodopes. More than 200 trapezoidal niches have been cut into the rock massif. Remains of an early Christian church have also been preserved there; it presumably belonged to a monastic complex dating from the fifth or sixth century.
The East Trans-Rhodopian Road continues from Malki Voden toward Valche Pole and Adrianople. An observation and communication tower stood on Pyramid Peak northeast of Malki Voden and was used to monitor the East Trans-Rhodopian Road. The tower's location is described in connection with lines of sight to surrounding defensive and observation facilities.
