Stomanetsite: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Above Stomanetsite, a path follows the road towards Zeleno darvo and climbs via Bayuva Mogila, Chukara and Preslapat. It uses a forest trail and a forestry road. The path also passes the Dragomirova Fountain and a concrete memorial dedicated to the Bulgarian volunteer formations; a nearby metal cross commemorates the Bulgarian volunteer formations of 1877.

Nature

The area around Stomanetsite is described as being within Bulgarka Nature Park and the Natura 2000 network. Bulgarka Nature Park protects beech ecosystems, flora, fauna and cultural heritage in the central Balkan Mountains. It contains more than 1,300 plant species, including 32 listed in Bulgaria’s Red Data Book.

Bulgarka Nature Park has 580 km of marked tourist routes and provides visitors with 29 huts and shelters. Uzana is the starting point for numerous eco-trails and hikes; the Kom–Emine Trail also passes through Uzana. The roads and car parks of Central Balkan National Park are used for hiking, cycling and equestrian tourism.

Trails and Routes

III-5006 is the road corridor designated as “Gabrovo–Stomanetsite–Zeleno darvo–Uzana”. The road from Gabrovo towards Uzana passes through Stomanetsite and Zeleno darvo. A route near Uzana begins 25 km from Gabrovo at the Partizanska pesen hut; it is reached via an asphalt road and has a large car park suitable for buses.

Culture

In the Gabrovo area, the Bozhentsi–Dryanovo Monastery trail connects two historical and cultural centres. Also in the Gabrovo area, the Iztochnik–Torbalazhi–Sechen kamak route gently climbs through the forest to the Sechen kamak shrine.
