Lesicharka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lesicharka is represented at the Etar Open-Air Museum by a semi-detached house dating from the 19th century. The house was built around the middle of the 19th century; its reconstruction at Etar began in 1969 based on sketches and drawings by Lazar Donkov. In Lesicharka, the church of “St Petka Bulgarian” was consecrated in 1834.

Culture

The second floor of the Lesicharka house contains an icon-painting studio. The Mutafchiya workshop at Etar demonstrates traditional production using original tools. The Mutafchiya craft associated with the Lesicharka house processes animal hair into carpets, bags, saddle bags, coarse blankets and sacks. At the Etar leather workshop, visitors can view and buy traditional products made from calfskin and lambskin.

Nature

Lesicharka is included in the area designated as the protected Natura 2000 zone BG0000214 “Dryanovo Monastery”. Bacho Kiro Cave has been designated a natural landmark since 1962 and has a developed 700-metre section for visitors.

Hiking

The Bozhentsi–Dryanovo Monastery route connects two historical and cultural centres in Gabrovo Province. No special equipment is required for this route. It runs above Subotkovtsi and continues to Boruna Fortress, Bacho Kiro Cave and Dryanovo Monastery.

The Dryanovo cultural route includes a walk along the Dryanovska Eco Trail to the remains of Boruna Fortress. A guided cultural route connects the exhibition of the Dryanovo Historical Museum at Dryanovo Monastery with a guided tour of Bacho Kiro Cave. Around Dryanovo Monastery, climbing on rocks up to 80 metres high using alpine single-rope technique is listed.
