Vladimirovo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vladimirovo combines a remarkable church and festival culture with a protected landscape of the Dobruja. The Glavantsi heritage is particularly prominent: The festival of the same name preserves, presents and promotes Glavantsi culture as part of Bulgaria’s intangible cultural heritage.

Culture

Vladimirovo has an Orthodox church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. Its construction began in 2001, when Metropolitan Kiril laid the foundation stone; the church was consecrated on 14 December 2025. Its antimension contains a sewn-in relic fragment of an unknown martyr. An earlier church with the same dedication was damaged by the 1939 earthquake, later abandoned and eventually demolished.

Musical heritage is also rooted in the village. At the centre’s school for folk instruments, children are mainly taught to play the bagpipe.

Nature

The land around Vladimirovo lies within the Sukhaya-Reka protected area, a Dobruja landscape with river valleys, dry gorges, rocks and rocky ledges. Fourteen habitat types as well as several animal and plant species are protected there. Protected species in the Sukhaya-Reka area include the European otter and the European souslik.

Festivals and Customs

Vladimirovo’s village festival was held on the first Saturday in June. During the village festival, visitors were presented with traditional Glavantsi dishes.

The Glavantsi Festival is also a family and relatives’ reunion for family members who have been separated for decades. In Vladimirovo, it brings together descendants of migrants who now live in Dobruja, Silistra, Bessarabia and Ukraine. On the first day of the festival, the migration of the Glavantsi to Dobruja is reenacted.

The Glavantsi performers in Vladimirovo present authentic clothing and dances associated with descendants of migrants from Glavan.

Municipal road DOB 1199 connects Zheglartsi, Benkovski and Vladimirovo.
