Stefanovo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Stefanovo is described as one of the oldest settlements in Dobrich Municipality. In Ottoman registers from 1526 and 1527, the settlement appears under the name Ayo Orman. The former name Ayorman, interpreted in local history as “Bear Forest,” was changed to Stefanovo in 1942. Renting a holiday apartment in Stefanovo is one of the possible travel plans involving the area.

History and Culture

The first Bulgarian private school in Stefanovo opened in 1905 in a village house. At the 2023 village festival, a St. George’s swing was used in front of the community center as a tradition for health and good fortune.

Landscape and Location

Stefanovo is located on the Dobrudzha Plateau in the eastern part of the Danubian Hilly Plain, about 350 meters above sea level. The settlement lies on the main road from Dobrich to Albena, 6 kilometers south of Dobrich.

The local agricultural area has chernozem soils and produces wheat, corn, sunflowers, and beans. In the center, a green park with trees extends for about 2 kilometers parallel to Stefanovo’s main road.

Local Traditions

Stefanovo has a baking oven established in 1967. Since 1993, Spiridon Spiridonov has preserved its baking tradition and recipe and continues to make bread.

Events

The program announced for the village celebrations in Stefanovo on October 4, 2025, included the women’s singing group “Stefanovska Kitka” and the dance ensemble “Horce.”

The program announced for the Dobrudzha Pumpkin Festival at Stefanovo Stadium on October 5, 2025, included a culinary exhibition of pumpkin dishes and desserts, as well as presentations of various pumpkin varieties. Also announced for October 5, 2025, in Stefanovo was the first edition of the “Fruits of Dobrudzha” festival, which was intended to showcase local products, with pumpkin as its opening theme.
