Tsarevo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tsarevo is located on a harbour bay situated between Cape Castro to the south and Cape Limnos to the north. The port of Tsarevo has been designated an international port since 1995; vessels can remain in the harbour year-round.

History and Culture

Tsarevo, formerly Vasiliko, was first mentioned in the second half of the 12th century. In 1662, Evliya Çelebi described a harbour and a small fortress in Vasiliko, which he called “Basiliko Burgas”.

In the Vasiliko district of Tsarevo, the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God was built around 1810 on the site of an older church. Its current form dates from 1895. The church survived the great fire in Vasiliko at the end of the 19th century.

The Vasiliko Customs House can be visited year-round. The Tsarevo Municipal Historical Museum has three exhibition floors. Its archaeology and treasure chamber displays artefacts from three millennia, as well as silver and gold finds. The museum is one of Bulgaria’s 100 national tourist sites and is listed there under number 8b.

Events and Activities

“Tsarevo Sportuva” is a recurring sports festival held in Tsarevo in July. Its programme includes a swimming marathon and the “5kmRun”.

At the 2026 edition, children took their first steps in windsurfing on Pontona Beach with instructors from XChallenge Surf.

The Summer Dog Fest was held in Tsarevo for three consecutive years up to 2026. The Summer Dog Fest 2026 was announced for 26 to 28 June in Tsarevo’s Sea Garden complex; activities for dogs, children and families were announced.

Excursions

In the wider regional surroundings of Tsarevo, the Butamyata–Silistar geological route takes about two hours.

The official routes from Ahtopol to the mouth of the Veleka River and from there to Sinemorets are suitable for mountain biking and are stated to be 5 km and 8.2 km long, respectively.
