The Samorazvitie Community Cultural Center in Tankovo was founded in 1950. It has a children's folk dance group and a library whose collection caters to all age groups. A monument to Vasil Levski stands in the center of the settlement; the local church is named St Archangel Michael.
Nature
Near Tankovo, Kalinata was designated a protected area in 1970 to preserve a natural habitat of the marsh snowdrop and the unique plant community of the Longozna forest. The Kalinata protected area is located next to Tankovo and Kosharitsa. Kalinata is a Longozna forest in which old ash, oak and elm trees, as well as shrub vegetation, have been preserved. It is home to 75 plant species, including 27 ornamental and 19 medicinal plants. Five plant species in Kalinata are listed in Bulgaria's Red Data Book, including the marsh snowdrop as the most valuable species.
Local Traditions
Tankovo is associated with winegrowing and vegetable cultivation; a celebration of grape brandy takes place there in December. Tankovo's village festival takes place on November 8 in honor of St Archangel Michael. The 2022 village festival featured a music program. It also included a celebration in the square in 2022, attended by local residents and guests. On November 7, a hierarchical evening service with prosphora was held at the St Archangel Michael Church in Tankovo for the patron saint's feast.
The Festival of Livelihoods and Traditions in Tankovo featured stalls selling fruit, vegetables, honey, handicrafts, sweets, herbs and spices.
