Lyaskovo is located within the protected Natura 2000 zone BG0000151 Aitoska Planina. The area was designated to preserve various habitats, including dry grasslands, low thorny shrub communities, vegetation on rocky slopes, and oak forests. Culture and History
In nearby Aytos, the Genger Architectural and Ethnographic Complex showcases local crafts and traditional architecture. The workshops offer pottery, copper work, basket weaving, wood carving, tailoring, and baking. The tavern serves traditional Bulgarian dishes and local wine.
Lyaskovo was formerly known as Aptarazak. The remains of an old quarry are also visible near the village.
Nature and Trails
The Aytos-Genger, also called “Aytos prickly astragalus,” is described as a Bulgarian endemic and Tertiary relict and is listed as a rare plant. Another notable formation is Three Brothers: the rock phenomenon was declared a natural monument by Order No. 1799 of June 30, 1972. The Three Brothers landmark and its surrounding area were identified as a potential Natura 2000 site covering an area of 1,047 hectares.
A red-marked eco-trail leads from Three Brothers to the bronze eagle statue and continues to the Kazanite natural monument. A second eco-trail runs east of Three Brothers via Aytos Koriya and the Sudievo spring to the village of Sudievo. Three Brothers was included as site number 7A in Bulgaria’s 100 National Tourist Sites on September 17, 2019.
Slaveeva Reka Park has two pedestrian entrances: one from Aytos and one from the reservoir side. The Aytos Zoo is located in the northern part of the park and covers 15 decares. It displays 21 animal species with approximately 220 animals. Upon prior request, the zoo offers free educational talks about animal care. Aytos Zoo is located near natural attractions and eco-trails that draw visitors to Aytos.
