In Sakalova (Sokolovo), there is an active wooden Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist. Its construction period is dated approximately to the years 1820 to 1864. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Sakalova can plan the village as a destination in its own right.
Culture
The Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist is located in the centre of Sokolovo, in a cemetery, and is designated as a monument in Sakalova (Sokolovo). The wooden church in Sakalova (Sokolovo) was built in 1865; the 1865 church was constructed on the site of a chapel dating from 1820.
The church was closed from March 1965 and reopened in 1990. The wooden iconostasis dates from 1865. Icons from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved in the church, including depictions of Saint George, the Hodegetria Mother of God, George the Victorious and Saint Gabriel.
The Church of St Vladimir in Bronnaya Gora is assigned to the Church of John the Baptist in Sakalova as a subsidiary church. The Church of St Vladimir was consecrated on 9 August 2012.

Sakalova was first mentioned in writing in 1593.
The old harvest-starting ritual “Zazhinki” took place in the agro-town of Sakalova. Authentic songs, dances and ritual acts were performed at the “Zazhinki” in Sakalova.
