History

Mokred’ has been documented since 1668; at that time, the place was mentioned as a village in the Orsha District of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Landscape

Locally, the name Mokred’ is interpreted as a designation for a damp, waterlogged landscape. Mokred’ belongs to a group of local settlement names associated with locations by rivers, lakes, or in low-lying, waterlogged terrain.

The trunk circumferences of two “Trilesino Giants” are given as 589 cm and 472 cm; one of the trees is over 40 m tall. The “Trilesino Giants” are a group of oaks, aspens, larches, poplars, and linden trees; some of these trees are up to 200 years old or older.

The Halimon Spring is a natural monument of local significance on the shore of the Trilesino Reservoir. The nearby Halimon Spring is consecrated and marked by a wooden Orthodox cross. At that time, a footpath to the Halimon Spring was available year-round; there was no road access for cars.
