Culture

The bronze monument to St Valentine in Smaliavičy, unveiled in 2009, is the work of sculptor Yaroslav Filippovich. It depicts the saint as a wise bishop with a blessing gesture.

The W. F. Kuprevich Memorial Museum is dedicated to the life and work of the Soviet botanist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Doctor of Biological Sciences Vasily Kuprevich. The museum preserves objects belonging to the scientist and information about his life.

The National Unity Park in Smaliavičy is located next to the city reservoir and includes a beach, a sports area, a children's playground, and walking and cycling paths.

A swimming ban was imposed at the Smolevichi Reservoir for 2024; the water area adjacent to the city beach was exempt.

History

The historic wooden Church of St Nicholas in Smaliavičy was an 18th-century Baroque architectural monument before it was destroyed by Russian authorities.

The Church of St Nicholas in Smaliavičy was rededicated in honour of the Minsk Icon of the Mother of God. It was built between 1994 and 2014.
