History

The former church in Dory had a floor plan in the shape of an elongated cross, a bell tower with a gable front, and an open dome. Inside, there was a single-nave iconostasis with 13 icons in a row. Repairs to the former church took place in 1866 and 1874.

The memorial site in Dory includes the exposed and raised remains of the former church. A memorial plaque is mounted on the exposed foundation. The names of the victims are inscribed on a stele; its base serves as a support for bronze mourning wreaths. Four-metre-high sculptures of mourning women at the memorial site symbolize maternal grief, the grief of widows, and female grief in general.
