Ashmyany combines a museum in a reconstructed historic setting with distinctive religious architecture. The Ashmyany F.K. Bahushevich Local History Museum is housed in a reconstructed historic building from the mid-19th century and features an exhibition with four halls dedicated to the nature, history and culture of the Ashmyany region. In the historic centre stands the Holy Resurrection Church, a cross-shaped brick building whose construction was completed in 1883. It is an architectural monument in the pseudo-Russian style.

Culture

The Church of the Holy Archangel Michael dominates the architectural cityscape in the centre of Ashmyany. Its towers have become a symbol of the city and a landmark for many travellers.

The history of religious architecture is also present at several historic sites. The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ashmyany was closed during Soviet rule and later fell into ruins. The original Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built after 1872 using materials from the dissolved Dominican church. It was a classical-style building with a rectangular floor plan and a four-column portico.

The former synagogue in Ashmyany was built in the classical style and features only limited decorative and sculptural detailing. The synagogue in Ashmyany has preserved a large part of its original interior. In Stara Oshmyana, the oldest surviving parts of the ruins of the Franciscan monastery are Gothic remains of a church probably built in the late 15th or early 16th century.
