Erts: Via Ferrata, Cycling Route and Romanesque Church
Accommodation in Erts
Erts offers several reasons to get to know the village better: the Via Ferrata Roc de la Coma d’Erts crosses long rock steps secured with chains on the left side of the route. There is also a cycling route starting in the village and the church of Sant Romà d’Erts, with its distinctive building history. When choosing where to stay, you can consider which of these discoveries you want to shape your visit.
Via Ferrata Roc de la Coma d’Erts: Rock Steps and Exposed Sections
The via ferrata is of intermediate difficulty and includes exposed, mildly challenging sections. Its long rock steps and the chains on the left side of the route give it its distinctive character. The summit is at an elevation of 1,650 metres; the via ferrata faces southwest. Check access conditions locally before setting out.
Cycling Route 10 and Route Information for Port of Cabús
Cycling Route 10 (Erts–Pal) starts in the village of Erts, halfway between La Massana and Arinsal. It is 8.4 kilometres long. You can include the route as a specific part of your cycling plans.
There is also a separate route notice for the Port of Cabús route towards Erts. The road section up to the Poble d’Erts roundabout is initially wide and has a cycle lane. After that, the road narrows and has no hard shoulder up to the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards Pal. Road conditions can change, so check conditions and signage along the way.
Sant Romà d’Erts: Altar and Building History
The church of Sant Romà d’Erts dates from the 18th century and was built near the old Romanesque chapel. A double bell gable sits above the entrance, and the church also has a porch. Inside, a Baroque altarpiece from the old church has been preserved. Its paintings depict the martyrdom of Saint Roman. Its construction date, the former chapel and the altarpiece make Sant Romà d’Erts a different kind of discovery from the village’s more sports-oriented routes.
