Laza: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature

Laza lies at an elevation of about 1,700 meters above sea level. The village is also a destination for travelers looking to rent a holiday apartment. The 96-meter-high Mucuq Waterfall is located near Laza in the Qabala District at an elevation of approximately 1,700 meters. It is fed by snowmelt and rainwater from the Qotur Massif. Mucuq is located in the Qabala section of Shahdag National Park near Laza.

Hiking

The Xınalıq–Laza (Qabala) hiking route is 42 kilometers long and includes 1,945 meters of ascent and 2,800 meters of descent. It leads over high mountain ranges, through deep valleys and broad alpine meadows, before reaching an elevation of 3,236 meters. The route is physically demanding and includes steep ascents, several river crossings, and difficult terrain in the Gudyalchay Valley.

Access to Mucuq Waterfall follows the left branch of the Demiraparan River. The route may also include Zayli Waterfall and a cave used by wildlife.

Culture

The Xınalıq–Laza route follows ancient migration paths historically used by shepherds and traders between the high mountain pastures of the Caucasus and the lowland areas. Salavat Pass remains a seasonal resting place for local shepherds. Some residents of Laza spend the summers on high-altitude pastures in the mountain ranges of the Greater Caucasus, which reach approximately 3,000 meters. Sheep farming is part of the local livelihood; traditionally, residents move to wintering grounds.

Travel to Laza is more difficult in winter.
