Culture and History

Bala Qusar is one of the villages in the Qusar Rayon where the remains of ancient mausoleums have been preserved. In Qusar, there are historic houses from the period when a Russian military regiment was stationed there. The Sheikh Juneyd Mausoleum was built in 1544. The Qusar Rayon is also known for Sumaq carpets and knitted wool clothing.

Nature

Forests account for 20 percent of the Qusar Rayon. Near Urva lies the 7-hectare Elistan Baba beech forest, which is specially protected. Mount Bazardüzü in the Qusar Rayon reaches 4,466 metres and is described as the highest point in Azerbaijan.
