On Biliran Island, destinations range from waterfalls and forest trails to parks and historic sites. They are located in several municipalities. When choosing a holiday rental, it helps to first decide which experiences matter most to you: hiking, spending time at swimming and picnic spots, or exploring culture.

Waterfalls and Trails

At Ulan-Ulan Falls in Almeria, water plunges powerfully, creating a misty atmosphere. Bagongbong Falls is also in Almeria; a hike along scenic forest trails leads to the falls. Recoletos Falls offers a different experience: gentle cascades, clear natural pools, lush vegetation and distinctive rock formations define its peaceful setting. Visitors can also explore the surrounding trails. Almeria therefore offers experiences ranging from powerful plunges of water to gentle cascades.

At Ginbusagan Falls in the municipality of Biliran, the multi-tiered cascade stands out against a rugged, green backdrop. The route there passes along lush trails and offers hikers a peaceful setting. In Cabucgayan, Kasabangan Falls is known for its clear, cool water and tranquil atmosphere. Casiawan Falls has clear pools in a peaceful setting; scenic trails through dense tropical vegetation lead to the falls. Casiawan thus combines a hike through tropical greenery with views of clear pools.

After severe weather, trail conditions at Bagongbong, Ginbusagan, Recoletos and Casiawan may change. Check them before hiking.

Park Visits and Outdoor Breaks

Kasabangan Falls Leisure Park in Cabucgayan has scenic picnic spots and swimming areas. Tinago Eco-Tourism Park in Caibiran is known for peaceful walking paths, scenic viewpoints and attractive trails along the river. The parks offer different experiences: in Cabucgayan, the focus is on picnicking and swimming; in Caibiran, on riverside walks and viewpoints. If you plan your days around activities, the two parks offer different reasons to visit.

History and Festival Culture

The Nasunugan Ruins in Barangay San Roque are a reconstruction of an old structure that served early settlers as a watchtower against Moro raids between 1765 and 1774. The Padre Gaspar site is associated with the earliest recorded settlement on Biliran Island. The two places offer different historical perspectives: Nasunugan highlights the structure’s former protective purpose, while Padre Gaspar is connected to the history of settlement.

In Caibiran, the Ibid Festival is celebrated on July 25, at the same time as the town fiesta. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the date in advance.

Choosing a Location and Holiday Rental

Mainit Hot Spring is in Barangay Villavicenta. It is about 25 minutes from Caibiran and around an hour from Naval; road conditions can affect travel times. Use these details as a guide if Mainit is part of your travel plans.

The waterfalls are in Almeria, the municipality of Biliran and Cabucgayan; parks and festival offerings also take you to Caibiran. When looking for a holiday rental, it is therefore worth choosing a location based on the destinations that matter most to you. Consider whether your trip will focus mainly on hikes, park visits or historic sites, and choose your accommodation to suit the mix of activities you have planned.
