Discover Shefayim
Accommodation in Shefayim
Shefayim turns the spotlight on the history of the kibbutz: the historic and artistic Shvil Shefayim runs through the community from north to south. Other attractions include the old railway station and burial caves beside the railway line. In the wider region, Hof HaSharon National Park offers a nature-focused experience with its own trails. This gives you two distinct themes to consider when planning your trip: kibbutz history in Shefayim and nature trails in the surrounding area.
Shvil Shefayim: Art and Kibbutz History
The historic and artistic Shvil Shefayim is about one kilometre long and runs through the kibbutz from north to south. Its approximate length gives you a sense of its scale, while its direction describes its route through the community. Together, these details make the trail a tangible way to explore the area’s history: rather than visiting just one place, you follow a route through Shefayim. If you would like to include culture and exercise in your stay, Shvil offers a clear thematic focus.
14 Stops and a Historic Occasion
Along the historic trail are 14 stops, each marking an important milestone in the kibbutz’s history. The stops give the route an internal structure and bring its historical focus to life. In 2018, Kibbutz Shefayim inaugurated the approximately one-kilometre-long Shvil to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of the kibbutz nucleus. The trail’s creation is thus linked to a specific anniversary, while its stops focus on important milestones in the kibbutz’s history. This combination of art, local history and anniversary gives the route a clear historical context.
Other Attractions in the Community
The old railway station and the burial caves beside the railway line are also among Shefayim’s attractions. They add two distinct points of interest to Shvil: a railway station and caves located beside the railway line. This means there are other places to explore in the community in addition to the trail’s stops. If you would like to visit the station or the caves specifically, check in advance what visiting options are available.
Nature Trails in the Wider Region
Hof HaSharon National Park has a network of circular trails. These include the coastal Cliff Trail and the Iris Trail on the kurkar ridge behind the cliff; the Israel National Trail follows part of the Iris Trail. The trails offer different landscape settings: the Cliff Trail is close to the coast, while the Iris Trail runs along the ridge. The Iris Trail’s partial overlap with the Israel National Trail is another of its features. If you would like to include nature in your travel plans, you can choose between these landscape highlights.
Choose a Holiday Rental to Suit Your Interests
When looking for a holiday rental in Shefayim, first decide what you would like your trip to focus on. If kibbutz history is your main interest, Shvil, the railway station and the caves offer specific places to visit in the community. If you would also like to plan for nature trails, Hof HaSharon offers a separate focus in the wider region. Compare the locations of specific accommodations with the places you would like to visit, and check in advance what visiting options are available for the railway station and caves.
