Menara: Views, Landscape and Experiences
Accommodation in Menara
Menara is a destination where sweeping views, a short nature trail and a range of active pursuits sit side by side. Nearby, viewpoints overlook the Hula Valley, Kiryat Shmona, Mount Hermon and the Golan; Menara Cliff offers additional leisure activities. When planning, you can decide how to balance landscape, remembrance and more active experiences. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, the kind of day you want can help guide your search: would you rather focus on views and a nature trail, or are you more interested in the active pursuits?
Viewpoints and Remembrance
The Amir Karaa viewpoint offers views of the Hula Valley, Kiryat Shmona, Mount Hermon and the northern Golan. Another viewpoint along Menara Cliff’s History Stories Trail looks out over Mount Hermon, the Hula Valley and its lake, the Golan Mountains and Kiryat Shmona. Both viewpoints offer views of Mount Hermon, the Hula Valley and Kiryat Shmona. The Amir Karaa viewpoint also overlooks the northern Golan, while the lake in the Hula Valley is part of the panorama from the History Stories Trail.
The Amir Karaa viewpoint is dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Amir Karaa. An audio station there explains the landscape and the life of Sergeant Amir Karaa, who fell in Lebanon on May 15, 1995. Here, views and remembrance come together in one place: the audio station covers the landscape as well as the life story of the person honoured here.
Behind the ticket office, signs at Menara Cliff point to a viewpoint and to “The Balcony” restaurant, which overlooks the landscape.
Nature Trail and Active Pursuits
The Woodland Trail at Menara Cliff is about 500 metres long and has no significant changes in elevation. It is a short nature trail with a clearly stated distance. The 1.2-kilometre length mentioned elsewhere refers to the summer toboggan runs, a different activity—not a second hiking trail. So if you are weighing up a walk and other active pursuits, the figures describe different kinds of experiences.
Menara Cliff has 1.2-kilometre summer toboggan runs and a Bungee Dome trampoline. A track ride runs along a route with views of Lebanon. Tobogganing, trampolining and a ride with landscape views are therefore different experiences available in the Menara area. If you are planning to visit one of these attractions, it is worth checking the latest visitor information in advance.
Near Kibbutz Menara, Via Ferrata (“iron path”) and HaMetzok HaShakran are among the extreme sports sites. The Via Ferrata activity is run through the climbing association. Access to HaMetzok HaShakran is only available after arranging it in advance with the climbing association. Keep this requirement in mind when planning to visit this particular extreme sports site.
When looking for a holiday apartment in Menara, the focus of your trip may be a deciding factor: views and landscape, a short nature trail or active pursuits. The experiences described offer different themes to consider when choosing a destination, without assuming any particular features of the accommodation.
A Cultural Highlight in the Northern District
In the wider Northern District, Tel Megiddo is one of the biblical tels, representative of sites with significant remains of cities connected to the Bible. The focus there is on the history of urban remains, while Menara’s viewpoints bring together landscape and remembrance. This makes the Northern District’s cultural heritage a distinct theme to explore alongside the specific experiences near Menara.
