Malkiyya offers a range of experiences, including the Mitzpor Malkiya viewpoint, an audio station and horse-riding activities. When planning your stay, you can choose between taking in the scenery and local history at the viewpoint or enjoying an activity on horseback.

Views from Mitzpor Malkiya

From the Mitzpor Malkiya viewpoint, you can look out over the Kadesh Valley, the Hula Valley, the Golan and Mount Hermon. At the same viewpoint, a seven-minute audio station tells the story of Malkiyya and the battles fought there during the War of Independence. The narration is by Ora Armoni, a member of the kibbutz; it is also available in English. At Mitzpor, views of four named landscapes and a story about local history come together. The duration of the audio station can be factored into your schedule.

If you are mainly looking for scenic views, the four vistas take centre stage. If you are also interested in Malkiyya’s history, the audio station offers a second perspective on the same viewpoint.

Horseback Riding in Northern Galilee

The riding school at Kibbutz Malkiyya offers horseback rides through open countryside and the landscapes of Northern Galilee. Pony rides are available for children. This means you can choose between a countryside ride and pony riding, two activities with different focuses. Check directly with the riding school for availability before planning either activity. For families with children, pony riding is a specific option; the horseback rides offer a different kind of experience.

Choosing Accommodation in Malkiyya

The name Mitzpe Nof Malkiya refers to rural guest accommodation in Malkiyya. Check directly whether bookings are available for your preferred dates. When looking for a holiday apartment, consider whether views and local history or the horse-riding activities will play a greater role in your trip. This personal preference can help you choose where to stay based on the experiences you want to include.

Archaeological Sites in the Northern District

Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo form a distinct archaeological theme in the Northern District. Tel Hazor is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city associated with the Bible; the visit focuses on the upper city. Features there include Solomon’s Gate, with six chambers and two towers dating to the 10th century BCE. A Canaanite palace was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The excavated shaft of the underground water-collection system is 45 metres deep, with three-metre-wide steps cut into its walls. The system is an advanced engineering achievement for storing water, adapted to the geography.

Tel Megiddo is one of three tells with significant remains of cities associated with the Bible and closely connected to biblical events. Its Early Bronze Age temple complex is exceptional for the number of its temples, the continuity of its cultic activity and its documented ritual practices. The orthogonal city plan from the Iron Age is also remarkable: there are few parallels for it in the Levant.
