Huzhou offers cultural sites with different points of interest: Feiying Pagoda as a landmark, a historic waterfront ensemble, and Lotus Manor with its water, small islands and pavilions. You can explore the city through its architectural and cultural history, water features and traditional buildings. This contrast offers concrete themes to guide your search for a holiday rental as you plan your trip.

Feiying Pagoda and Huzhou’s Cultural Heritage

Feiying Pagoda stands in Feiying Park on Tasia Road, in the Feiying Subdistrict of Wuxing District, Huzhou. As a city landmark, it is a prominent point of reference for anyone interested in Huzhou’s architectural and cultural history. In 1988, with approval from the State Council, it was designated a nationally significant protected cultural relic. It was the first historic building in Huzhou to receive this distinction. Its special status and precise location give you two points of reference: the pagoda’s importance to the city’s cultural heritage and its location in Feiying Subdistrict.

Water, Pavilions and Zhao Mengfu at Lotus Manor

The reconstructed Lotus Manor lies in the southeastern part of the urban area. The grounds cover 112 mu, with water making up one third of the area. Small islands, winding corridors, waterside pavilions, other pavilion structures and plants shape the site. It offers a different impression from that of a single landmark: water and architectural features are spread throughout the grounds. If these are particular interests for your trip, they offer a clear focus; the southeastern location is also a specific reference point for your plans.

One special feature within Lotus Manor is Lotus Peak: the Taihu stone is 3.8 metres high and about 1.2 metres wide. It originally came from Zhao Mengfu’s Songxue Studio. At the entrance, there is also a large stone bearing the complete Wuxing Fu, written and composed by Zhao Mengfu. The two stones offer different cultural points of interest: the Lotus Peak is defined by its dimensions and provenance, while the entrance stone is notable for the complete text and its authorship. The stories behind these individual objects add to the grounds’ water and pavilion features.

Historic Waterfront Buildings and Other Cultural Sites

In Huzhou’s central urban area, the Yishang Street Historic and Cultural Protection District is the only surviving riverside ensemble of old buildings with the traditional character of a Jiangnan water town. Here, the focus is on the combination of a waterside location and historic buildings. This distinguishes the site both from Feiying Pagoda as a single attraction and from Lotus Manor, whose character is shaped by water and pavilions.

The Zhao Mengfu Art Museum is another distinct point of reference: it is located on Lianhuazhuang Road in Huzhou, inside the Chinese Huzhou Brush Museum. Together with Lotus Peak, these offer two different connections to Zhao Mengfu—the stone’s origin in his Songxue Studio and a museum that bears his name. These details help you distinguish the cultural themes without combining them into a single place.

When looking for a holiday rental, the locations mentioned provide different points of reference: Feiying Park and Tasia Road for the pagoda, the central urban area for Yishang Street, the southeast for Lotus Manor, and Lianhuazhuang Road for the art museum. If your travel group has a range of interests, comparing these options can make it easier to choose a shared focus: a single cultural monument, a historic waterfront ensemble, or water and pavilion features.
