Erguna can be explored from two perspectives: at the E’erguna Ethnic Museum, the history and traditions of the local Russian-descended population take centre stage; nearby, wetlands, wooden boardwalks and viewpoints shape the experience of nature. There is also a cultural area featuring a Liba hall, Liba production and Russian performances. This gives you a choice of cultural themes, landscapes and a city attraction tied to a particular time of year for your trip.

Russian Traditions and Liba

The exhibition space devoted to Russian folk customs at the E’erguna Ethnic Museum traces the history of the local Russian-descended population through hundreds of exhibits, images and sculptures. It also shows how traditions are passed down and protected through work and everyday life, folk culture and religious belief. The exhibition therefore ranges from tangible objects to the areas of life in which customs have significance. Individual exhibits may change.

The Zhongke Liliya Russian Culture Tourism Area in E’erguna includes a Liba culture hall, Liba production and Russian performances. The focus here also extends to production and performances, while the museum centres on the history and transmission of traditions. Individual commercial elements may change.

Wetlands Nearby

The Erguna Wetland Scenic Area is three kilometres from the urban area, covers ten square kilometres and is classified as a national AAAA-rated tourist attraction. It also has a three-kilometre circular route for electric sightseeing vehicles, where visitors can experience the landscape. The area and route offer two different points of reference: a large expanse and a clearly measured loop.

In Erguna National Wetland Park, wooden boardwalks pass birch trees, Daurian poplars and bird cherries. Trees have grown freely there for several decades, and in some cases for centuries; chipmunks are often seen. An observation platform stands on Mount Handaigai, the park’s highest point. From there, the forest of the Greater Khingan Mountains and the grasslands of Hulunbuir meet on the horizon. While the circular route provides a point of reference at the Scenic Area, the National Wetland Park is notable for its tree species and panoramic views.

A Seasonal City Attraction

In November 2024, the snow sculpture “雪圆圆” stood in Shengda City Green Park. It was ten metres long, ten metres wide and thirteen metres high, was considered a new city landmark and attracted many visitors who came to take photographs. As a seasonal winter attraction, it adds an urban perspective to the cultural and nature themes.

What to Consider When Choosing Accommodation

When searching for a holiday rental in Erguna, it helps to distinguish between the city and its surroundings. The museum is in E’erguna; the Zhongke Liliya Russian Culture Tourism Area is within the administrative area of E’erguna City, while the Wetland Scenic Area and National Wetland Park are nearby destinations. If culture and Liba are your priorities, focus your accommodation search on E’erguna. If you want to visit wetlands, wooden boardwalks and viewpoints, include the surrounding area in your plans.
