Accommodation in Luohe
In the wider region around Luohe, attractions range from the history of Chinese writing to riverside paths, bird culture, and regional cuisine. The sites around Xu Shen, the paths along the Sha-Li River, and Shenzhou Bird Park are particularly vivid examples. The region therefore offers a variety of cultural and scenic highlights to consider when planning your trip.
The History of Writing at Xu Shen Cultural Park
Xu Shen Cultural Park is one of the cultural attractions in the wider region around Luohe. It was planned and built around Xu Shen’s tomb, which is designated a major national cultural heritage site. The grounds cover more than 150 mu and follow traditional Chinese building conventions, arranged symmetrically along a central axis.
Along the central axis of the visitor route are the Chinese Dictionary Museum and the Exhibition Hall of Cultural Relics Related to Shuowen Jiezi. The 80-meter-long Hanzi Avenue displays reproductions of selected famous inscriptions from ten stages in the development of Chinese writing. The Xu Shen Stele Forest features more than 1,000 stone inscriptions from Shuowen Jiezi, famous historical inscriptions, and calligraphy by contemporary figures and well-known calligraphers. A six-meter-tall column carved from a single block of granite bears Xu Shen’s theory of the six principles of Chinese writing.
The Shuzhong Pavilion and Shuowen Pavilion are also part of the site. These facilities, along with the exhibition hall and the Chinese Dictionary Museum, present material about Xu Shen and preserve numerous books about him and the Confucian classics, dictionaries, writing artifacts, and works by well-known figures. Xu Shen Culture Temple Fair is held in the park every year. Annual Qingming activities also commemorate the region’s sages, alongside citywide recitations of classical texts. If you would like one of these events to shape your stay, check the dates for your trip.
River Landscapes and Birdlife
The scenic area along the Sha-Li River has an extensive network of riverside paths for walking and cycling. It is designated a national 4A-rated tourist attraction and a national sports park. An open, ribbon-shaped public park has also been created along the banks of the Sha and Li rivers. The wider region thus offers both waterside paths and a distinct bird-culture theme as different scenic highlights.
Shenzhou Bird Park is a national 4A-rated tourist attraction themed around bird culture. A local report from 2026 lists more than 160 bird species and more than 8,000 rare birds; population figures may change. The park is suited to family outings, nature education, and leisurely sightseeing. For families looking to focus on birds and natural history, it offers a clearly defined day-trip destination.
Culture and Regional Cuisine Around Luohe
The large He Shang Jie cultural tourism district was developed by the city of Luohe and designed in a historical style. It draws on the trading history of central China and the history of Luohe, but it is not a traditional, century-old street. This distinction is useful if you are specifically looking for historic design without mistaking the district for an old street.
The Luohe Museum traces more than 12,000 years of Luohe’s history through stone, clay, ceramic, and bronze objects. For regional specialties, Luohe’s night market at Huanghe Square offers another glimpse of local cuisine, including Yancheng tofu cakes, crispy vegetable-filled flatbread rolls, grilled skewers, and liangfen. Individual stalls and offerings may vary.
