Zovuni: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the context of the former Zovuni village site, St. Vardan Church and the adjacent two-storey tomb are presented as rare examples of early medieval Armenian architecture.

On the left bank of the Aparan Reservoir, the monument complex of the historic Zovuni village site comprises the churches of Tukh Manuk, St. Vardan and St. Poghos-Petros, as well as quadrangular stone monuments.

At the former Zovuni village site, St. Poghos-Petros is described as the first Armenian architectural example of the domed hall type; its building inscription has been preserved on a wall pillar.

In 1967, the old village area was submerged beneath the Aparan Reservoir. St. Vardan and Tukh Manuk were relocated to and rebuilt on the hill called Eastern Khacher, while the remaining monuments stayed in their original locations.

The Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum is located in the vicinity of Zovuni. Also nearby are K’anak’err - 8, K’ristoneut’yan 1700-amyakin, Nor Arabkir Memorial Complex and Tsovakal Isakovi.
