In Kroonstad, the Sarel Cilliers Museum is located on the first floor of the public library. It contains portraits and documents relating to the Cilliers family, as well as exhibitions on the gold mining industry and the development of the railways in the Free State. Kroonstad is also the starting point of the officially established R82 Battlefield Route to Greenlands, which includes the Rooiwal battlefield.
